If you are a licensed agent in Northwest Indiana wondering whether your brokerage still fits, start with a few plain questions: who helps you when a deal gets messy, how you get leads, what you learn, and what it really costs you. At Realest in Crown Point, we would rather you ask those questions of us and of everyone else before you decide.
We are the shop on South Main in Crown Point. Love Thy Neighbor. Call (219) 801-0432.
Why agents start looking
Most agents we talk with are not unhappy with real estate. They are unhappy with being alone in it. It’s a missed callback from a manager, a contract question nobody answers on a Saturday, or a feeling that the office knows their production number and not their name.
If that sounds familiar, it is worth a look around. Leaving is a big step. Asking questions is not.
Five questions to ask any brokerage
1. Who picks up when a deal goes sideways?
Inspections, appraisals, and title issues do not wait for office hours. Ask who you call, and whether that person has closed deals in Lake and Porter counties.
2. Where does business come from?
Ask what the brokerage does to bring in buyers and sellers, and what is expected of you. A clear answer beats a big promise.
3. What does training look like in month one and month twelve?
New agents need a path. Seasoned agents need room. Ask how both are handled.
4. What is the full cost, in writing?
Every brokerage structures pay differently. Ask for every number on paper so you can compare fairly. We go over ours in person, never in a blog post.
5. Do the values match yours?
You will spend a lot of hours under someone’s name. Make sure it is a name you are proud of.
How Realest works
Pamela “Pam” Joveski is the founding owner of Realest, and the office sits on South Main Street in Crown Point. We are licensed in Indiana and Illinois, so agents near the state line can serve clients on both sides.
Our motto is Love Thy Neighbor. For us that means treating clients, cooperating agents, and each other the way we would want to be treated. It also means a small office where people know your name and answer your call.
We work across Crown Point and the Northwest Indiana towns we serve.
What a first conversation looks like
It starts with coffee at the shop, or a phone call if that’s easier. You tell us what is working and what is not. We tell you how we run things. There’s no pressure and no paperwork on day one.

Questions agents ask us
What should I ask a brokerage before I switch?
Ask how they help you find business, who answers your questions on a live deal, what training looks like, and what the full cost to you is in writing. Get every answer on paper before you sign.
